Doon earned their second win of the U21 championship in Bruff this afternoon seeing off the challenge of Mungret. The final score of 4-12 to 8 points was a testament to Doon’s effort throughout the game. We played with the assistance of a very strong wind in the first half and from the outset of the game we went ahead and never let our lead slip. Ger McPartland landed the first score of the game with a goal 12 minutes in. Mungret responded with a point a couple of minutes later but a torrent of points from McPartland again and Darragh O’Donovan and Shane O’Connell saw us gain serious momentum. Mungret ensured 2 points from frees late on in the half, but another goal luckily deflected from a Darragh O’Donovan free along with a point from Shane O’Connell on the 30th minute saw out the half in style for us. Half time Doon 2-6 Mungret 0-4.

Even playing against the wind in the second half, Doon’s full forward Raymond Ryan bagged the first two scores of the half – both points from play. More points from Ger McPartland and Shane O’Connell along with a goal each from two of our subs – Cathal Maher & Luke Treacy sealed our fate. Final score Doon 4-12 to Mungret 0-8. A great effort from this team; today’s win gives us two victories in the premier championship.
