Live 95fm County Senior Hurling Championship - Doon v Patrickswell

It was a game of missed chances and conceded frees in Doon's second game of the county senior hurling championship in Bruff this afternoon. Our opponents Patrickswell were coming in with a win under their belt while our loss to Garryspillane last month had been an early blow to Doon.

Even though this game lacked any major excitement it was close from the start with no more than 2 points separating the teams at any one time.

Doon's stalwarth forwards Michael Barry and Michael Fitzgerald were dependable as always with 2 points each in the first half while Ger McPartland, Niall Maher & Cathal McNamara added 1 each to give us a tally of 7 points in the first half against Patrickswell's 6 points. We were in hard luck to have a point disallowed just before half-time - which could have seen us head to the dressing room with more of a cushion.

Halfway through the second half we held 2 point lead for a very short while following good scores from Micheal Ryan, Cathal McNamara and Niall Maher, but the Well scored 3 consecutive around the 20 minute mark putting us under pressure. Their 1 point lead held for nearly 10 minutes towards the final whistle but Michael Fitzgerald had the final say with a last ditch point ending the game 12 points a piece. Our one remaining game will see us play Effin.
