Junior A East League Final

There was a great East League victory for our Junior A team in sunny Caherconlish on Saturday night last (14th June). Ahane were our opponents who have us some great competition even forcing the game into extra time. We led from the outset of the game thanks to a point from a David Stapleton free and continued with great momentum until halftime with a 0-11 to 1-4 lead. The second half belonged to Ahane who clawed their way back and the gap narrowed and narrowed particularly in the last 10 minutes. An Ahane free, well into injury time, allowed them to draw the game. With twenty minutes of extra time to be played the entire team rallied; we depended heavily on centre forward David Stapleton for scores and he delivered. We were 1 point ahead after the first ten minutes of extra time, but in the second ten minutes we outscored Ahane 4 points to 2, meaning an eventual 3 point victory for us. Final score Doon 0-25 Ahane 1-19.
Congratulations to manager Martin Hayes, captain Denis Barry and all involved with the team. With no time for rest, we play Croagh Kilfinny this Monday evening (16th) at 7.30pm in Claughaun in the county semi final.
