A big weekend for the club as two county titles were collected within hours of each other on Sunday when our seniors captured the County B title and later our u15s captured the u15s county tile.
First up were the seniors who played South Liberties in a replay at 12 o clock in the Gaelic Grounds. In cold conditions Doon got off to a flying start with points from Bernard Crowe, Michael McKenna and Ger McPartland. However South Liberties kept close and points were exchanged tit for tat until Michael McKenna  pounced on a breaking ball to send the ball whizzing to the net. After that Doon took command for the next fifteen minutes with Ger McPartland tacking on another goal to put Doon 7 points ahead going in at the break on the score 2 7 to 6 points.
In the second half Doon did not have it all their own way and when South Liberties hit a purple patch Doon really had to put the shoulder to the wheel. This is when backs Cathal Mc, Eddie Kiely, Roger Maher along with Denis Moloney at midfield were outstanding. Points began to flow from Cathal Mc (free), Bernard Crowe and Niall Maher. These were soon followed by Goals from Ger McPartland and Michael Ryan to push the game in Doon favour. Final score Doon Doon 4 11 Liberties 2 11. The cup was accwepted by a grateful Mike McKenna with Denis MOloney receiving the man of the match award.
Congratulations to Johny Butler In recognition of the award he received on Saturday night in Ahane from the County Board for his involvement in club activity over the years. Johnny has been a mainstay of our club and has trained many of the todays senior team at one stage or another. He is also very active in the Field Committe team along with Donie Anderson and it is mostly through their work that that we have the magnificent facilities in Doon today.
